Meeting of 2005-03/04
MONSON CEMETERY COMMISSION
FRIDAY, MARCH 4, 2005

The meetings of January 7th and February 4, 2005, were canceled due to inclement weather.

The regular meeting of the Monson Cemetery Commissioners convened at 8:30 a.m. in the office at 32 Wilbraham Road. In attendance were Robert E. Pease and Albert T. Wilcox. Julian E. Szarlan was not in attendance. Also present were Paul B. Lovell, John R. Nothe and Gaylin G. Bingle.

The meeting minutes of December 3, 2004 were read by the Recording Secretary and accepted with a motion by Mr. Wilcox and seconded by Mr. Pease.

OLD BUSINESS:

1.      Snow on Roof of Building – Mr. Wilcox said he spoke with Brian Mushenko and Whippie of Whip’s Construction, who both said they would look at the roof in the spring to see what can be done to divert the snow. Mr. Pease asked if an angle could be placed on the roof to angle the snow away from the door. Paul said it is the whole roof that would need something as the snow falls from the entire front of the building. Paul said he would like to see what the contractors come up with for a solution and how much it would cost to correct the problem of the falling snow. Mr. Pease and Mr. Wilcox agreed to have a contractor place snow brakes all the way across the front of the building.

2.      Branch at North Main and Tree in Hillside – Wayne Farquhar, who works for Kopec Tree Service, took care of the branch and the tree for a cost of  $525.00.

3.      Copier – The copier was serviced and Paul was told the problem was the mirrors inside needed to be cleaned. However, the dry ink cartridge running low light has just started coming on every time the copier is used and the copier will have to be brought back to have this cartridge installed soon. Otherwise, the copier is working like new again.

NEW BUSINESS:

1.      Roads in Hillcrest – Mr. Wilcox suggested paving the cemetery roads in Hillcrest Cemetery as he said the pea-stone roads are becoming rough and hard to walk on.

2.      Raise for Paul – Mr. Pease and Mr. Wilcox agreed when Mr. Szarlan returns from Florida, the Commissioners would meet with the Selectmen to either draw up a contract for Paul, or to see about moving Paul up a grade on the salary grid, as the Assistant Superintendent’s pay rate is catching up to the Superintendent’s pay rate.

At 9:25 a.m., Mr. Wilcox made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Pease seconded the motion.
Respectfully Submitted
